Chalene Lemons

Chalene Lemons-

First time competitor as a Figure Athlete for Zozobee Flexwear.

I'm Chalene Lemons and I'm 24 years old and a mom of three beautiful kids all under 5 years old. Competing has always been a secret goal of mine since my gym journey began in high school. Being athletic in competitive cheer and a sprinter and pole vaulter in track & field for many years I have always been extremely fit. At 18 I had two memberships and a personal trainer. I decided to start a bikini prep and within a month I didn't follow through and got a job in a bakery to pursue my cake career. I ended up turning my life into something that was really the opposite of fitness. By the time I was 21 I had no muscle left and two daughters. Upon the recovery of my second c section I really felt an urge and need to start working out again. At 2 months postpartum I started slowly back into the gym. I had a trainer for a few months but my goals were to be thin and fit so I didn't take it very seriously. I always had a love for my lower body but my upper body was neglected.
In the summer of 2016 I got married to my now husband who also shared a passion for fitness. He was a trainer and fitness instructor himself. It quickly became something we bonded over. It was then that I grew a new appreciation for muscle building in women. We got pregnant with our son that fall and I worked out up until I was 35 weeks pregnant 3-5 days a week. I ended up with a problematic pregnancy and a problematic c section and recovery to follow. Had to revisit the ER multiple times with dilated ovary veins, ovarian vein thrombosis, and pre-sepsis from the surgery. I immediately knew that this was going to be my come back for my health, my body, and my fitness if I ever wanted more kids. At 4 weeks postpartum I started dedicating my life to muscle building. I fell into a deep postpartum depression due to the stress of life and the stress of a less than healthy body. I knew that I needed to really invest some time and energy into myself and my overall health. I started physical therapy at 8 weeks postpartum and found I had a popped out rib, sacroilliitis, a tear in my hip joint, and severe SPD. I was a medical mess. Slowly but surely I fell in love with the gym. Due to the fact that I was breastfeeding my son I really only could go after everyone was asleep late at night. I did what I had to do. Slowly but surely I began tracking my progress and seeing my transformation happen.
In November 2017 I decided that I wanted to really push myself and compete in an NPC competition. I fell so in love with muscle building that I knew I oils only push myself to compete in Figure. My husband and I decided to watch my progress through to the 1st and decide at that point if it was worth it. I was confident that this is why I wanted to do and kept it a secret from social media and my close friends and family. In January I was blessed with the opportunity to apply to become a sponsored athlete for Zozobee Flexwear. Knowing I had no competition background I really doubted the fact I would be considered 7 months postpartum.

Well believe it or not... I GOT THE SPONSORSHIP! I was floored with motivation and accountability upon receiving the news. I knew this was the extra push I needed to really see myself through this process. This opportunity had made me become extremely public about my position and my progress which was something I didn't know if I was ready for. It took a lot for me to stop taking social media so seriously and to really just accept this goal for myself and for the world to watch. I found an overwhelming amount of my followers and fellow mommas were more than supportive of me. It only gave me the strength to power through my anxiety. I started seeing myself differently. I started seeing social media differently. I started seeing other differently. I had a purpose not only as a stay at home mom, but as a woman and for myself. I can happily say that I've been kicking some major ass and have rose above the PPD I was struggling with. I found myself spending more time with my kids, my husband, and less time worrying about every other person who crossed my path.

Kytanna gives you much more than just a sponsorship. She offers you the motivation and support to go above and beyond any goals you’ve previously set for yourself. She’s an amazingly talented woman who empowers everyone she meets. I am so lucky to have received this opportunity and to get to know such a fearless woman!
